Asia Pacific Underwater Photo Challenge (UWPC) aims at finding the excellent underwater photographers and hopes to promote the development of the art of underwater photography and scuba diving in the Asia Pacific Region. UWPC is an international competition with judges who are famous underwater photographers worldwide and prizes including liveaboard, resort, diving gear and photography equipment. This competition is open to all skill levels and now we welcome everyone to participate in the most prestigious underwater photo competition in Asia. Submission will be opened from 10th October 2018, and the deadline is 10th January 2019. There is a 3-month window for talented photographers to gather some of their best underwater works.
Categories for UWPC 2019 are Macro, WideAngle, Creative and Best Cover. Category “Weefine – Mobile/Action Camera” is cooperated between UWPC organizer and the underwater equipment brand “Weefine”.Weefine sponsors all prizes which are dedicated to the category.
Other prizes are also amazing. EZDIVE sponsors USD1,000 for “Best Cover”winner. Besides, there are also prizes such as diving packages sponsored by diving resorts and liveaboards including Dive Damai, Worldwide Dive, and Sail (WWDAS), Blueforce, Tawali, and Discovery Fleet; underwater equipment sponsored by Scubalamp, INON, UmiUmi, and Minigear; and then the diving gear such as regulator from CREST, BCD from Surfacetension, and dive computer from Deepblu.
Judge panelfor UWPC 2019 gathers some of the best underwater photographers from over the world including Beth Watson (USA), Christian Vizl (Mexico), Enzo Chen (Taiwan), Pipat Cat Kosumlaksamee (Thailand), and Rod Klein (USA). They will select the best 10 photos from a huge sum of submissions for each category, and those nominees will be live judged during the largest dive expo in Asia – DRT SHOW Shanghai from 12th to 14th April next year. Judges for live judging include Alex Tyrrell (UK), Eric Goh (Malaysia), Gary Sun (China), Ken Thongpila (Australia), Lin Qing (China), Sam Cahir (Australia), and Yoshi Hirata (Japan). And Tim Ho (Malaysia) is invited once again by the organizer to be the moderator of live judging.
Furthermore, UWPC is in alliance with several famous underwater photography groups such as Scubashooters (Europe), UWMP (Global), UWPixel (China), and Black (Taiwan) to promote this prestigious underwater photography competition in Asia.
